Mahamakut Ratchawittayalai University On December 18, 1990, the Mahamakut University Council approved to establish The first campus in the Northeastern region in Khon Kaen. Name the Council of Education Mahamakut Wittayalai Isan Campus at Sri Chan Temple (Phra Aram Luang), Muang District, Khon Kaen Province.

 

Later in the year 2540 after having a royal command graciously Established Mahamakut Wittayalai University have state university status under the supervision of the Ministry of Education by giving a new name Mahamakut Wittayalai University Isan Campus and moved to Baan Nonchai, Ratkanung Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province on June 27, 1999, with the objectives of the establishment as follows:

 

1. To be a place of study in Buddhism.

 

2. To be an educational institute which belongs to the country and abroad.

 

3. To enable the heirs to be the power to uphold Buddhism and to be the heirs that are suitable for the times.

 

4. To be the center of study, research, and research in Buddhism and to preserve the arts and culture buddhist sculpture.

 

Under the management of a committee called the Isan Campus Committee. The administration is divided into 3 sections: 1. Isan Campus Office 2. Isan Academic Service Center 3. Isan Theological College.

 

Started to open education to monks and novices since December 18, 2000 onwards and has opened two more education centers: 1. Ubon Ratchathani Education Center 2. Nong Bua Lamphu Education Center.
