Wat Phra Kaew Located in the center of Kamphaeng Phet It is an important temple adjacent to the palace area as well as Wat Phra Si Sanphet. in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province or Wat Mahathat in the middle of Sukhothai Within the temple area consists of the main chedi surrounded by lions. A circular chedi at the base with elephants surrounding the viharn, mondop, ubosot and chedi Rai, all surrounded by laterite walls.
The most outstanding temple of Kamphaeng Phet is probably Wat Phra Kaew. This is the place where the Emerald Buddha and Phra Buddha Sihing were once enshrined, so Rama VI called this large temple in the center of the city as "Wat Phra Kaew".
There is a mix of art in many eras, so it is expected that there will be more builds for many periods. The oldest group of ancient sites is around the elephant chedi surrounded at the end of the temple. (The side adjacent to the City Pillar Shrine) in front of the chedi is the remains of the standing Buddha's feet. It is thought that there used to be a large laterite, 20 meters tall, standing here. Most of the Buddha statues including the main Buddha image was damaged, leaving only laterite stirrups inside The selling point of this temple is the three Buddha images. The square face of Ayutthaya is more like a Sukhothai Buddha image like in the other temples of Kamphaeng Phet.
