Nonthaburi Tulip Garden Bang Talat, Pak Kret, Nonthaburi. In 2008, U&V Inter-Trade Co., Ltd. started growing tulip flowers in Nonthaburi.
The company imported 100,000 tulip sets from the Netherlands and put them in an air-conditioned greenhouse in which the temperature was controlled at 5-25˚C.
The company, however, could make profit from 60-70% of the tulips. Initially, the tulip garden was not officially open to the public but its beauty later got around by word of mouth and by some visitors who posted its details and pictures on many websites.
Furthermore, it appeared on Channel 7’s TV show, Saket Khao, encouraging lots of people to contact the company for a visit.
As a result, U&V Inter-Trade Co., Ltd. decided to officially open the tulip garden to the public in order to support tourism and strengthen the relationship between the public sector and the private sector.
60% of over 100,000 tulip sets are expected to be fully grown and can be shown to the public. More than 15 tulip cultivars with various colours are planted here, including World’s Favourite, Parade, Orange Queen, Negrita, Bastone, etc.
Apart from the tulips, different kinds of winter flowers are grown here, such as the hyacinth White Pearl, the hyacinth Pink Pearl, the hyacinth Jan Boss, etc.
The tulip is the national flower of the Netherlands. Normally, it grows well and produces its flowers in cold countries. Moreover, in the Persian language, it is called “Laleh”, meaning a turban. The meaning which has been in existence since the period of the Persian Empire suggests how the Persians describe the tulip’s physical appearance.
