Wat Fang Klong Thai Puan Traditional Museum Pak Phli, Pak Phli, Nakhon Nayok. This local museum is located at the side of Highway Number 22.

 

This musem is inside Wat Fang Klong temple which is located close to Nakorn Nayok – Prachinburi route. It is the temple in Dhammakai Buddha’s precepts. 

 

The former name was “Wat Him Klong temple” which is pronounced in Thai-Yuan accent since it is located at the Tha Daeng canal’s side.

 

The 12 families gathered and built the temple which was separated from Ban Tha Daeng community, settled down at the place named Ban Fang Klong and built the temple by having Phra Ajarn Un and Phra Ajarn Sim as the construction foremen.

 

Therefore, this newly built temple was called “Wat Fang Klong temple” which is the same as the village’s name. Phra Kru Viriyanuyok, the present abbot of this temple, has developed the temple into the community’s learning center of religion, art and culture.

 

It is also the location of Wat Fang Klong local museum, community culture integration center and, now, it has been developed into the cultural tourism attraction for people, students and university students to seek knowledge and especially study Thai-Puan culture.    

 

This local museum is the place of equipments and utensils collection of Thai-Puans or Thais  who have Chinese race and live in Yunnan area and moved to settle down in Thailand 200 years ago. 

 

This museum has gathered cultural characteristic and lifestyle of this Thai people group as you can see from the utensils and clothes such as Thai-Puan sarong, stone mill, ancient coffee brewer barrel, agricultural equipments and weaving machines. 

 

For those who are interested, this museum opens from 08.30 – 17.30. Moreover, inside the Wat Fang Klong area, there are local weaver group and pandan odor salt egg maker where tourists can visit. Wat Fang Klong Thai-Puan community has conserved traditional Thai-Puan lifestyle.
