This largest natural fresh water source in Thailand covers the area of 132,737 rai 56 square wha in three amphoe – Tambon Khwae Yai , Amphoe Muang Nakhon Sawan, Amphoe Tha Tako and Amphoe Chumsaeng.
At present, two ways to Bueng Boraphet are by car, along the Pak Nam Pho Market – Tha Tako route of about 13 kilometers and by boat, from Nakhon Sawan Municipality Pier Market along the Nan River of about 6 kilometers. Bueng Boraphet is a famous large fresh water supply of the country of the country and used to abound in crocodiles. Approximately, there are 148 species of fishes.
Two popular fishes are “Suea To Fish” – regarded as a delicacy and pleasant smelling – and “Bu Fish” – very expensive major export of Nakhon Sawan. (At present there are crocodiles in Bueng Boraphet but there is a crocodile breeding area for those who want to observe and study.)
Waterfowls Park (Bueng Boraphet Wildlife Sanctuary) The park, a part of Bueng Boraphet, is about 13 kilometers form Nakhon Sawan via Highway No. 3004 to Amphoe Tha Tako. Then turn left onto the 2 kilometers long asphalted road. It occupies an area of about 212.8 square kilometers.
