Ganesh Museum, Chiang Mai, is a faith-based private museum dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Hindu religious art. Located in Yang Kram Subdistrict, Doi Lo District, along the Chiang Mai–Hot Road (Highway 108) at approximately kilometer 35, the museum houses an extensive collection of sacred sculptures and religious artworks. One of its most remarkable features is the large number of Ganesha statues—often cited as numbering in the thousands—sourced from various regions across Southeast Asia, allowing visitors to explore diverse artistic styles, beliefs, and iconography in one place.

The museum was founded in 2004 by Mr. Pandorn Teerakanon. What began as a personal collection started in 1976 gradually evolved into a public learning space where visitors can study and appreciate the artistic and spiritual dimensions of Lord Ganesha. This dedication has made the museum a meaningful destination for devotees, cultural travelers, and those seeking blessings for success, wisdom, and the removal of obstacles in life.

A major highlight of the Ganesh Museum is the recreation of the “Ashtavinayaka,” a group of eight sacred Ganesha shrines originally located in Mumbai and Pune, India. These sites are associated with naturally formed stone manifestations of Lord Ganesha. By recreating them in Thailand, the museum enables local devotees to pay homage conveniently while also offering cultural insight into important Hindu pilgrimage traditions.

The overall atmosphere of the museum is calm and contemplative, making it ideal for unhurried exploration. Visiting in the morning is particularly pleasant, as it allows ample time to observe the details of each statue. The museum is open daily and free of charge, making it suitable both as a dedicated spiritual destination and as a peaceful stop along the Chiang Mai–Hot travel route.

Getting There From Chiang Mai city, take Highway 108 (Chiang Mai–Hot Road) toward Doi Lo District. Upon reaching approximately kilometer 35, make a U-turn and enter the side road from the main highway. Continue for about 5.5 kilometers; the museum will be on the left-hand side. Traveling by private car, taxi, or hired vehicle is recommended.
