Wiang Kosai National Park spans across Long and Wang Chin districts in Phrae Province, as well as Thoen, Sop Prap, and Mae Tha districts in Lampang Province. Covering a vast area of 256,250 rai, it was officially declared a national park on October 9, 1981. The park features a rugged mountainous terrain, making it one of Thailand's prominent natural attractions.

This park is home to diverse forest types, including montane rainforests, mixed deciduous forests, and dry dipterocarp forests. There are also pine forests and grasslands at high altitudes, which serve as the origin of several rivers. The park hosts a variety of wildlife, such as wild boars, bears, tigers, and serows. A special highlight is the ancient grove of golden teak trees, some over a century old, with trunks so large it takes three to four people to encircle them.

There are numerous attractions within Wiang Kosai National Park. Among these, Mae Krung Luang and Mae Krung Noi waterfalls are notable for their stepped cascades, reflecting the local term “Krung,” meaning stairs. Other stunning waterfalls include Mae Sin, Mae Jok, Mae Pak, Mae Rang, and Khun Huai, each with unique characteristics. Another must-see site is Mae Jok Hot Spring, located about 5 kilometers from the park headquarters. The hot spring has a temperature of approximately 80 degrees Celsius, providing a perfect setting for relaxation amidst nature.

Visitors to Wiang Kosai National Park can enjoy a range of activities, including nature walks, waterfall exploration, and visits to the tranquil hot springs hidden in the lush greenery. Hiking trails in the park offer opportunities to appreciate the rich diversity of flora and fauna thriving in this pristine natural environment.

Easily accessible from major cities, Wiang Kosai National Park is an ideal destination for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. It offers peace, natural beauty, and a chance to learn about the importance of conserving natural resources for future generations.
